Experience with emergency department procedures is desirable. The workload averages around 25 cases daily, primarily with adults, though occasional pediatric cases may arise. The CT scanner is located in the emergency department. Technicians must be independent and capable of managing a solo overnight shift, which can be busy. Skills in preparation and administration of contrast media and familiarity with relevant systems and equipment are necessary.

Call is required for Radiology, General ultrasound, Cardiology, and PACS. All call shifts are assigned on the posted schedules. Rad Technologists can expect 1-4 call shifts per week. There are two call shifts per day: early call from 1730 to 2230 and late call from 2230 to 0400. Employees working days will cover early call. Employees working evenings will cover late call. Graveyard or overnight technologists do not cover call shifts. General ultrasound staff can expect 1-3 call shifts per week. There is one 11.5-hour call shift per day from 1830 to 0600. Cardiology staff can expect 3-4 call shifts per week, with M-F shifts from 1830 to 0600 and weekend shifts being 24 hours from 0600 to 0600. PACS administrators cover call on a rotation, with one week of call every other week. M-F call for PACS is 15.5 hours from 1530 to 0700, and weekend call is 24 hours from 0600 to 0600. Special procedures performed include CT guided drain placements, CT guided biopsies, ultrasound guided biopsies, aspirations, paracentesis, thoracentesis, fluoroscopy guided lumbar punctures, fluoroscopy guided PICC placements, and myelograms. Procedures vary depending on the skills of the radiologist covering the department on any given day.
