Travel Technician / Technologist in Lenexa, KS - Job: Pre-Analytical Assistant I Location: Lenexa, KS Duration: 5+ Months Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Tuesday to Saturday Basic Purpose: * Pre-Analytical Assistant I is responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department. Position Requirements: * Minimal data entry skills * Good organizational skills * Understanding of specimen types related to test(s) ordered. * Clinical department requirements with regard to specimen types and quantity needed for each test, specimen handling and delivery. * Understanding of compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change on a daily basis * Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to change and pursuit of continuous improvement * Commitment to fulfilling internal and external customer requirements in the course of carrying out routine position responsibilities * Willingness to actively contribute to a team based working environment A o Ability and willingness to support the goals of the department with regard to staffing needs on weekends, holidays, on call and overtime * Tasks and responsibilities must be performed with confidence, accuracy and in a timely manner * Performance task proficiency includes but is not limited to the following manual functions:- sorting- racking- pickup and delivery of specimens to the laboratory- specimen storage [this position might also be trained to run the sorters in archive mode]- centrifugation- aliquoting Job Accountabilities 1. Demonstrates an ability to learn the job duties assigned to the Pre-Analytical Assistant I, and develops an understanding of how all the functions in Tech Ops and Specimen Processing work together and how they impact Technical departments and result quality. 2. Identifies problems with specimen types, missing information etc., with regard to sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage of specimens; is able to resolve or forward information in support of timely problem resolution. 3. Demonstrates an understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering, which requires developing ability to research test order information on translation tables, computer system, and the directory of services. 4. Meets quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training. 5. Completes all required written documentation such that it is understandable to others, legible and within the assigned time frame. 6. Reports to work on time, and follows attendance guidelines; supports the department's performance in the event of coworker absences. 7. Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to allow timely progression to the next level. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements/Environment 1. Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory. 3. Previous experience in a production environment preferred. 4. Travel Technician / Technologist in Lenexa, KS - Job: Specimen Processing - Referral Representative I 3rd shift Duration: 3 Months  Shift: Tuesday to Saturday, 2:30 AM to 11:00 AM. 3rd Shift/Central Time/AMR-60X-THIRD Location: Lenexa, KS 66219 Need to hire a replacement to fill open potion, Referral Representative I - Lenexa, KS Summary Handle all internal and external customer contact regarding Referral Testing. Receive, resolve and follow up with complex customer issues. Act as a liaison between internal and external customers and Referral vendors. Duties and Responsibilities • Retrieve, sort and process specimens for shipment to referral laboratories. • Ensure sample quality and accuracy. Identify problems with specimen types, missing information, incorrect temperature, quantity not sufficient, etc. • Prepare specimens and packages for shipment ensuring they are prepared according to IATA regulations. • Responsible for filing departmental documents. • Handle all customer inquiries regarding reporting of results, service failures and other quality issues to provide customer satisfaction. • Report laboratory results using established protocols. • Contact clients to resolve routine or medical/technical matters related to patient testing and result reporting using established protocols. • Perform investigations and provide resolution to complex Referral Testing issues. • Research test availability using established protocol for selecting a referral vendor. • Assist Client Services, Customers and Sales by effectively answering questions and responding to concerns in a timely manner. • Communicate all tests not performed [TNP's] and lab accidents to clients within 24 hours of notification. Document thoroughly; elevate issues of concern to supervisor. • Identify and escalate Reportable Quality incidents to supervisors. • Maintain work area in a safe, functional and sanitary condition. • Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and laboratory safety requirements. • Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management. • Other duties as assigned.
