The Surgical Technician handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures. The Technician ensures quality patient care during operative procedures and constantly monitors the maintenance of the sterile field. Essential Functions: Verifies the surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings the patient to the assigned operating room. Passes instruments to the surgeon during procedures. Anticipates the surgeon's needs for additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with the circulator before the operation and before the incision is closed. Prepares sterile dressings and secures them after incision closure. Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for the procedure. Sets up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure. Helps drape the sterile field. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other team members with room cleaning for turnover. Participates in prepping the room for the next patient. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational Requirements: All associates are required to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Participation in E-Verify is mandatory.

Qualifications: * Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology school or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist * One year of experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room is preferred. * Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs. * CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred. * Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at hire date. * State-specific Surgical Technologist Registration required by date of hire. Responsibilities: Arrange and inventory sterile set-up for operation and pass items as needed to the surgical team. Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment. Assist in the preparation and moving of patients. Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover. Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images. Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.
