Description: Inpatient Rehabilitation unit with 28 beds. Full-time therapy staff includes 4 physical therapists, 1 physical therapy assistant, 4 occupational therapists, 2 occupational therapy assistants, and 2 technicians. PRN staff includes 3 speech-language pathologists and 25 physical/occupational therapy staff. Day shift nursing staff depends on census, with a 1-2 patient care technicians present. Patient ratios are 4-6 per day for physical and occupational therapy and depend on referrals for speech-language pathology, with 6-8 sessions lasting 30 to 45 minutes each. Equipment includes Vital Stim, Bioness, Pneuvest, and the BITS visual and cognitive program. Electronic medical records system is Meditech. Common procedures performed include bedside swallow exams and Vital Stim MBSS. Ideal candidates should be flexible, team players, positive, and independent. On rare occasions, urgent evaluations may be needed for swallow or diet concerns.

Establishes a plan of care in conjunction with the patient and/or family members. Establishes a realistic discharge plan incorporating patient and/or family member goals. Documentation: Documents the evaluation and plan of care according to departmental guidelines. Documents each treatment session according to departmental protocols. Completes and submits family education, discharge, and other required documentation within facility and program guidelines.
