Daily responsibilities include managing non-invasive ventilation, conventional ventilation, and aerosol therapy. The therapist will conduct bedside pulmonary function tests and perform arterial blood gas analyses. Patient education and oxygen management are central to the role. The position requires teamwork as part of an interdisciplinary support system, including rapid response teams. Experience with Trauma Level 2 care is advantageous. Preferred experience includes utilization of various respiratory equipment and systems. There is an expectation to work every other weekend, unless specified otherwise. If a major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. The facility maintains a focus on providing critical care services and managing respiratory needs effectively. Census and patient ratios will vary based on unit demands. Floating to other areas within the facility may be required as needed. Compliance with core onboarding items is necessary before starting. RRTs work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver life-saving therapies and patient-centered care. ESSENTIAL WORK FUNCTIONS: * Collaborate with physicians to develop patient treatment plans * Examine and interview patients with breathing and/or cardiopulmonary disorders * Perform diagnostic tests, such as measuring lung capacity or collecting blood/sputum samples * Treat patients through various methods including chest physiotherapy and aerosol medications * Set up and monitor equipment to ensure the patient is receiving the correct amount of oxygen at the correct rate * Observe and record patient status and progress * Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate patient care * Educate patients and/or family members on how to properly take medication and use equipment * Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of RRT practice REQUIRED ESSENTIAL SKILLS: * Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills * The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language * Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills * Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend * Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism * Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment * Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
