Responsibilities include transferring patients for examinations and utilizing ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The technologist assists with the x-ray examination process and is responsible for the appropriate operation of all X-Ray Imaging and related equipment. They educate, position, immobilize, and perform X-Ray procedures effectively. Additionally, the technologist coordinates X-Ray examinations to ensure timeliness, quality, and continuity of patient care. They must understand and follow provider imaging orders correctly. Required images and related clinical information must be submitted to the Radiologist for interpretation. The technologist appropriately evaluates image quality and maintains open communication with patients, coworkers, Radiologists, and leadership. They utilize, charge, and maintain department supplies efficiently while practicing sterile techniques and following infection prevention policies. The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines is essential. The technologist safely performs X-Ray procedures, including patient transfers, and prepares and administers contrast according to Radiologist protocol. They follow Clienttion Safety Measures (ALARA) to ensure safety for patients and staff. Supervision and evaluation of Student Radiographers in the clinical setting is part of the role.
