Position: _Medical Assistant_ Location: _Snellsville, GA_ Shift: _Must be available between 6:45-5:30 Mon – Fri Occasional Sat hours at once per month or once every other month. May have 1 day off during the week, depending upon the clinical team to assigned too_ Status: _Full Time / Perm / Direct Hire_ Job Duties: Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Cleans, straightens room, and changes table paper after each patient is seen. Keeps rooms stocked with supplies at all times. Escort patients to exam room, chatting pleasantly. Prepare patients for various types of procedures, giving necessary instruction and keeping schedules flowing smoothly. Assist patients with disrobing and dressing; performing chaperone role when necessary. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Cleans, straightens room, and changes table paper after each patient is seen. Setting up surgery room in preparation for procedures. Interview patients to obtain a detailed history and list of medications. Records chief complaint, reviews medical history, updates medication history, and performs vitals per office policy. Checks each chart for problem list and updates as needed. Assists the physician or advanced care providers with patient examinations and treatment. Has appropriate supplies/handouts ready for the doctor. Assist with biopsies, surgeries, and cosmetic procedures including set-up, clean-up, patient prep, and documentation in electronic medical record. Documents prescriptions and e-prescribes prescriptions and refills per provider’s instructions. Procures lab samples such as venous blood samples and urine samples. Completes lab requisitions and sends specimens to appropriate lab Returns patient phone calls, answers medical questions, submits prescriptions per the protocol of treating physician or advanced care provider Understands and complies with OSHA, CLIA, AAAHC and HIPAA compliance programs Actively observes and learns more advanced MA’s with the goal of advancing individual skills to progress to the level of MA II and/or MA III Qualifications: Education: 2 years college OR Medical Assistant Diploma OR 2 years of equivalent work experience required. Experience: 1+ years of previous experience working as dermatology MA required . Knowledge of: Medical terminology and anatomy required . Knowledge in dermatology,_ a plus!_ Automated computerized scheduling and personal computer knowledge _preferred_. Previous exposure to electronic patient management systems. Ability to acquire working knowledge of EMA/ModMed Dermatology EMR and PM scheduling software Certification: ​ CPR and/or ACLS certification required. Educate patients as directed by provider, including using take-home instruction sheets, answering routine questions as directed. Escorts patient to checkout area with their fee ticket. Returns patient phone calls, answers medical questions as instructed, phones in prescriptions. Communicates with pharmacies and pharmacy staff for purposes of calling in new prescriptions and refills for prescriptions. Calls Mohs post-operative patients for their status and documents patient status in EMA. Calls patients with complications and updates medical director with patient concerns. Calls patients scheduled for Mohs surgery to remind patients of scheduled appointment and confirm surgery instructions. Assists Mohs surgery scheduler with scheduling patients for surgery. Obtain medical clearance and any required documents needed to proceed with surgery. Call patients and schedule appointments in accordance to policy and procedures as defined by Mohs surgeon. Prepares the clinical portion of necessary forms, such as FMLA or disability forms. Maintains Mohs log book and enter results in pathology log in EMA. Call patients with results. Manages and updates emergency kit drugs. Keeps emergency kit drugs updated. Keeps patient handouts copied and available to give to patients. Capable of calling patients who have cancelled their appointments to reschedule and inquire about reason for missed appointment. Requirements Education: 2 years college OR Medical Assistant Diploma OR 2 years of equivalent work experience required. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of related medical practice experience required . Knowledge of: Medical terminology and anatomy required . Knowledge in dermatology,_ a plus!_ Automated computerized scheduling and personal computer knowledge _preferred_. Previous exposure to electronic patient management systems.
