Obtains and records post-dialysis vital signs, including weight and temperature. Verifies absence of residual sterilants; takes samples for testing and prepares them for shipping. Discards dialysis supplies and sanitizes the equipment according to protocols. Communicates emotional, medical, psychosocial, and nutritional concerns to registered nurses when needed. Under the direction of a registered nurse, monitors and instructs patients regarding vascular access. Reinforces treatment care with patients. Ensures patients have adequate supplies and monitors inventories. Assists nursing staff with basic treatments, such as hemodialysis therapy. Maintains professional conduct and good communication skills in patient care. Participates in the multidisciplinary process. Reviews lab work and physician orders. Performs basic clinical procedures as needed. Prepares dialysis equipment before treatment and cares for it after treatment. Tests monitors and machine functions, setting them according to protocols. Completes flow sheets to verify patient billing. Complies with policies and procedures according to regulations for patient care and services. Participates in quality assurance and cost containment programs. Participates in projects as directed by management. Performs other duties as assigned.
