Job Description & Requirements
Occupational Therapist - Rehab - (OT - Rehab)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $2214.00 - $2282.00

This 13-week inpatient Occupational Therapist opportunity is located in Ellsworth, Maine, a welcoming coastal community and gateway to some of New England’s most iconic scenery. Ellsworth sits just inland from the Atlantic coast and is a short drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, making it an ideal base for professionals who enjoy hiking, ocean views, and charming small-town life. The town features historic red-brick architecture, a walkable downtown, local shops and eateries, and easy access to lakes, trails, and year-round outdoor activities. The facility offers a professional, team-oriented inpatient care environment where Occupational Therapists are valued members of the interdisciplinary team. You will work closely with physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, and case managers to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care. The inpatient setting provides exposure to a variety of diagnoses, supporting continued clinical growth and providing excellent experience for your resume. In this role, you can expect a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, working five 8-hour day shifts. The consistent daytime schedule supports work-life balance and allows you to enjoy the natural beauty and community activities that Ellsworth and the surrounding areas offer. On-call duties are not expected for this assignment, allowing your focus to remain on direct patient care during scheduled hours. Typical responsibilities include performing OT evaluations, developing individualized plans of care, implementing therapeutic interventions, and progressing patients toward safe and appropriate discharge goals. You will provide functional training, ADL retraining, therapeutic exercise, and patient and family education on adaptive equipment and home safety. Collaboration with the care team on discharge planning and participation in team meetings and care conferences are integral parts of the role. Patients in this inpatient environment may include individuals recovering from surgery, orthopedic procedures, neurologic events, medical hospitalizations, or other conditions requiring skilled rehabilitation. You can expect to manage a reasonable caseload aligned with inpatient productivity standards, with a focus on quality, individualized care. The setting provides meaningful, hands-on work where you can see the direct impact of your interventions on patients’ functional independence and quality of life. Ellsworth’s location is a strong selling point for this contract. On your days off, you can explore nearby Acadia National Park, coastal villages, and scenic drives along Maine’s rugged shoreline. The area offers opportunities for hiking, kayaking, boating, cycling, and enjoying local festivals, farmers markets, and community events. The combination of a supportive clinical environment and a picturesque coastal setting makes this assignment appealing for Occupational Therapists seeking both professional development and lifestyle benefits.
