Histotechnologist
- Receives tissue specimens from clinical services and autopsy suite, determines if specimens are labeled as to type of specimens and assigns surgical pathology or autopsy accession number to specimens.
- Places specimens in proper fixation material.
Assists the pathologist in gross dissection of tissue and submission of tissue for histology examination and checks for proper accession number. - Process sections taken for microscopic examination through multiple phases required for preservation and fixation.
- Embeds and sections tissue and mounts on slides for examination.
Performs all routine and special staining techniques of histology sections as well as immunohistochemistry and advanced techniques. - Participates in quality assurance and statistical data gathering.
Licensure: -MLT, MT, HTL or HT Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
