PEDIATRIC ECHO SONOGRAPHER

50 MILE RADIUS RULE FINGERPRINT REQUIREMENT. IN PERSON PROCESS can be printed in Jackson or Grenada MS the week prior to start (48 hr turn around) REMOTE PROCESS 10-14 days needed for processing) Department: ECHO/CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER must have experience with complex congenital hearts must be certified in PEDS sonography Department: ECHO/CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER General Certification Requirements (BLS, etc.) BLS required Specialty Certifications: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) VS (Vascular Sonographer) RVT (Registered Vascular Tech) • Do they require additional certifications: AE (adult echo) or PE (pediatric echo)? CCI or ARDMS, do not have to have pediatric or fetal cert but do have to have CCI or ARDMS • How many scanners/rooms does this dept have? float around the hospital. some days may help in clinic, some days may be on portable echo, will float to clinic to help with maternal fetal medicine 1 day per week • Will they have to float/cover any other areas? yes, float between portable/hospital, pediatric clinic, maternal fetal medicine • Common types of imaging/studies performed & Job Duties Pediatric and cardiac, would need to float to do maternal fetal medicine once per week. Mostly congenital cardiac in pediatric clinic, do not have to be trained in TEE but may float to ECHO lab. • Experience or 'Must have' skills must have pediatric cardiac sonography experience, must be able to float to MFM • Average # of studies per day between 8-10 per day • EMR &/or PACS (Picture Archive & Communication System: software & hardware) do they use Epic Syngo dynamics • Department Specific Equipment Philips ie33 • Radiology Supervisor or Lead Tech? 2 senior sonographers in department, Alicon is director, Scott medical director. • Do they use RRA's (Registered Radiology Assistants)? Medical Office Asst that help to triage and do EKGs and holters/devices in the clinic • Radiologist in-house? multiple/ cardiology to read echos, always 1-2 available and usually in dept, • Do they have to start IV's? (if applicable to the department) no • Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 8-430 M-F • Weekend Requirements none • Holiday Requirements none • Call or Standby requirement? Response time? na • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Are scrubs provided? clean, professional. • Department specific orientation variable dependent on experience, senior sonographers would train and view scans, travelers will be given protocols to review. • Additional Notes Our mission is to provide the best quality to the children of MS, we are only children's hospital in the state, it is very important that they provide exceptional care and provide a great patient experience • Additional Questions how do you handle a child who is not cooperative? what would you do?
