Job Details:

Provides patient care and prescribed medical treatments to patients of Keystone Health (KH). Performs duties under the supervision of the Director of Practice Services, KP. Maintains Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  • Performs duties as a team member.
  • Reviews and prepares Electronic Health Record (EHR) information prior to patient’s appointment.
  • Prepare patient information for appointment by obtaining appropriate vital signs, reconciling medications, processing requests for medication renewals in a timely manner, and documenting accurately and timely in the EHR. Assist providers with providing care and performing procedures.
  • Carries out provider orders. Includes scheduling of appointments, immunizations, injections, etc., as assigned by the supervisor. May be assigned to sort labs, tests, and referral letters from the FAX machine by provider.
  • Provides patient education. Provides assistance to patients under the direction of a nurse or provider. Collects samples, such as urine, stool, sputum, and blood from patients for testing.
  • Understand various KH programs and communicates relevant information to patients.
  • May be assigned to sterilize equipment. May be assigned to assist with orientation of new employees.
  • May perform inventory and/or requisition supplies.
  • Attends department meetings and completes all required training.
  • Communicates necessary information to the Director of Practice Services, KP.
  • Participates in organizational quality initiatives as requested.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Minimum 1 year experience; Experience in Pediatrics preferred
  • Basic typing/computer skills required.
  • Experience in office nursing a plus.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Current CPR Certification; Medical Assistant Certification
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong orientation for attention to details with good ability to plan work efficiently

Physical Demands:

  • Work routinely requires standing and/or walking for at least 75% of the schedule workday.
  • Some lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping required.
  • Routinely lifts objects weighing up to 10 pounds; may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and may need to assist in lifting or supporting patients.
