Medical Assistant II

Position: Medical Assistant
Location: Oceanside, CA
Shift: 1st Shift
Duration: 13 Weeks
Start: ASAP

Job Description:

Perform routine procedures to prepare examinee for provider exam to include obtaining and documentation of medical history, recording of vital signs and preparation of required lab/XRay/diagnostic requisitions Assist provider with exams as required to include performance of chaperone duty

Perform standard diagnostic procedures accurately, efficiently, and with the highest quality including but not limited to: 12-lead electrocardiograms, venipuncture, collection of and preparation of lab specimens for laboratory courier, pulmonary function test (PFTs), arterial flow Doppler studies, vaccinations/injections, audiograms, visual screening exams, Smell and taste testing and other clinical diagnostic studies assigned to meet the needs of the organization

Prepare and dispense/administer medications as ordered and verified by provider Perform daily, weekly and monthly equipment end user calibration/inspections as required

Enter and retrieve data via EHR and case management system

Responsible for front office duties such as: answering telephones, preparing schedules, scheduling and confirming appointments, examinee check in and out and document filing

Perform data entry and basic review of exam documents for accuracy to include grammar and spelling.

Assist in the retrieval, validation, and tracking of diagnostic test results for upload to propriety software application

Review exam reports as required to ensure that report is complete and all required supporting documents are present before delivery to the client

Document and escalate abnormal exam findings, test results and data omissions according to workflow for correction

Work with providers and operational teams to ensure documents are complete, accurate and submitted in a timely manner

Perform housekeeping functions such as: changing exam room table paper, disinfecting surfaces, upkeep of tidiness of the entire clinic (exam rooms, bathrooms, waiting area, front office, lab room, etc.), ensuring all equipment is clean and presentable

Perform routine safety and compliance audit activities

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)

Associate degree in Medical Assisting and/or graduation from an accredited vocational Medical Assistant program, and/or military equivalent

Medical Assistant Certification/Registration or meet state requirements

1 to 3 year of medical assistant experience

Basic Life Support (BLS)certification required

Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) Certification or the ability to successfully completion of certification within 90 days of notification

Technology-driven medical data entry system experience or related computer data entry

Experience in Occupational Medicine, or Primary Care work environment preferred.
