About the Position

Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Ultrasound Tech Specialty: - Duration: 11 months Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Breast (BR) specialty or equivalent breast ultrasound credential Certifications: CPR/BLS certification Must-Have: - Knowledge of ultrasound equipment and its operation - Understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology - Knowledge of safety, infection, and disaster policy and procedures Description: The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound. Utilizes high-frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities. Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exams in the allotted time. Handles required daily clerical duties, which include using various computer systems and patient scheduling. Performs portable ultrasound exams as needed. Carries out complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound to detect anatomical abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones. Assists physicians with biopsy deep abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound as required. Determines, prepares, and sets up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment. Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explaining procedures, measuring, and positioning patients for each anatomical view. Evaluates technical quality of images and processes images of pathogenic conditions. Maintains records of ultrasound taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required. Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning. Cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment, restocking as necessary. Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents. Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Greets patients when they arrive for their exams utilizing appropriate communication standards. Is responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends. Adheres to policies of employee identification, standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care to meet those needs. Communicates with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their developmental and educational levels. Adheres to the standards identified in the organization's competencies.
