Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with Neurosurgery OR experience to join a leading healthcare facility in Johnson City, NY. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and intraoperative support while collaborating with surgeons and the operating room team to ensure exceptional patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict sterile technique and aseptic practices throughout surgical procedures.

• Prepare operating rooms by assembling instruments, supplies, and equipment.

• Assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, draping, retracting, suctioning, suturing, and passing instruments.

• Anticipate the surgeon's needs during procedures.

• Maintain an organized sterile field and perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts.

• Handle surgical specimens according to hospital policies.

• Support efficient operating room turnover between cases.

• Assist in identifying and preventing potential safety hazards.

• Participate in rotating on-call coverage.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Schedule

• 5 x 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or

• 4 x 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)

• 1–2 on-call shifts per week

• 1–2 weekends of call per month

• May be assigned to the General OR when Neurosurgery volume is low.

Requirements

Requirements

• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Required

• Current BLS Certification (AHA, American Red Cross, or HSI) – Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Previous Operating Room and Surgical Technologist experience preferred

• Experience in Neurosurgery OR strongly preferred

• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred

• Strong communication skills in English (read, write, and speak)
