Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 8 hours (23:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years in acute hospital operating room License: Active compact license honored Certifications: CBSPD or IAHCSMM Must-Have: Experience in acute hospital operating room Knowledge of biological indicators and chemical indicators Ability to clean and document equipment including crash carts, IV pumps, and PCA pumps Proficiency in high-level disinfection (HLD) and immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) Familiarity with neurology and orthopedics procedures Experience in proper selection of wrapping materials for sterilization Description: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining the sterility of surgical instruments and equipment. The technician will prepare, sterilize, and package surgical instruments and supplies for procedures. The role involves using washers and sterilizers to ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized. The technician will be tasked with assembling surgical sets and trays according to established protocols. Monitoring and testing steam sterilization processes will be critical to ensure effectiveness. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to strict safety standards. Candidates should possess the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams are essential. The schedule includes night shifts, and flexibility for coverages may be required.
