About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RRT License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, RRT Must-Have: First-time travelers accepted Description: The care provided by the Respiratory Care Services Department includes services involving the evaluation of cardiopulmonary function. This includes the treatment of cardiopulmonary impairment and the assessment of treatment effectiveness. Respiratory Care Practitioners attend all high-risk c-sections and high-risk deliveries. They are responsible for the effective management of the neonate's airway according to Neonatal Protocol. They also attend all resuscitations, managing the patient's airway and providing ventilatory support. Ventilatory care is provided in the Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, PACU, and the level III nursery. All care is provided under the supervision of a licensed physician. Patient care decisions are based on patient assessment data and analysis of diagnostic information. Practitioners are expected to work every other weekend. There is no call requirement. Floating within facility and scope of practice may be necessary as needed. Compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time. If not compliant, a delay of two weeks may occur due to orientation scheduling. If one major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work. If two major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work both. If three major holidays occur within the assignment, the traveler is expected to work two of them. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. All care is based on patient assessment and diagnostic information analysis. Prior experience in adult critical care and ventilatory support is necessary. Experience with charting systems is preferred. Skills in various respiratory treatments and procedures are essential. This includes intubation assistance, tracheostomy care, and monitoring of arterial blood gases. The role requires the use of specialized equipment and technologies. Candidates should have experience and knowledge of handling high-pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation. Applicants must meet all compliance and onboarding requirements prior to the start of their assignment. Modules will be completed during orientation and will vary by specialty. Flexibility in working schedules is an important aspect of this role.
