About the Position

Job Title: Echocardiography Sonographer Profession: Sonographer Specialty: Echocardiography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10H Days Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, RDCS, RCS Must-Have: Adult echo certification (RDCS) Description: COVID vaccine is required. The role is based in a cardiovascular specialty clinic. The clinic has 4 echo rooms. There are typically 2 to 8 cardiologists in the clinic each day. The average number of patients is 9 echo appointments per echo room per day within a 10-hour shift. The position involves performing echocardiograms and structured reporting while providing excellent patient care. Experience in stress echocardiography is a plus. The EMR systems used are Heartlab and Epic. Shifts are from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with one day off during the week based on clinic needs. There is no weekend or holiday requirement. There is no call or standby requirement. Scrubs and specific dress codes are not provided or required. The orientation length depends on experience with PACS and EMR platforms. The department does not use medical assistants or CNAs related to echocardiography. Common diagnoses treated include heart failure, stenosis, regurgitation, and pre-operative assessments. The average number of studies performed each day is 9. Department-specific equipment includes Epiq 7. RNs will support IVs if necessary, but the echocardiography staff will not start IVs. Radiologists are not in-house as this is a clinic role, and oversight will be provided by cardiologists. The department will not require the candidate to float or cover other areas. The facility maintains the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. No specific scrub colors are required, and they are not provided. BSN certification is not required for this position.
