Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician prescribed
• Perform ventilator management including setup, self-testing, monitoring, and weaning of patients on mechanical ventilation
• Conduct chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial punctures
• Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal
• Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in the patient chart and respiratory care records

Required Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification as required by state
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Experience with ventilator weaning
• Ability to operate and maintain various ventilatory and respiratory care equipment with minimal supervision
• Competency in arterial puncture, endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope, and tracheostomy management

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
• Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and similar chest drainage devices
• Experience performing routine chest x-ray review to assess patient respiratory status
