About the Position
Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of applicable experience License: IEMA License in Radiologic Technology Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ARRT Registration in Radiology Must-Have: Knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy and physiology Operation of equipment and supplies for cardiac/vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures Moderate sedation administration EP concepts and theory Description: Assist cardiologists in performing invasive cardiac and vascular procedures. Provide technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques. Ensure patient care needs are met and handle additional assigned duties. Set up and operate various electrical and imaging equipment. Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills. Organize and prioritize tasks based on procedural findings. Advocate for patient needs during procedures. Interpret hemodynamic and procedural outcomes. Select and operate procedural supplies and equipment as needed. Operate both monophasic and biphasic defibrillators. Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure focused care. Assist with anesthesia needs for deeply sedated or anesthetized patients. Collaborate with research personnel to carry out laboratory-based studies. Exhibit excellent communication skills to interact with physicians for optimal patient outcomes. Direct team members to ensure high standards of patient care. Mentor and train fellow team members. Interact professionally with various vendors to ensure patient safety. Stay updated on equipment changes and advancements. Check and evaluate equipment daily for proper performance and safety. Manage digital archiving systems and ensure safe storage of patient images and reports. Report malfunctioning equipment promptly and take action to ensure safety. Troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment issues as needed. Query archived images from storage and create CDs for patient information transmission. Adhere to guidelines and standards of care in the Cath Lab. Document significant observations and care provided accurately. Maintain knowledge of aseptic techniques and prepare instruments for sterilization. Prepare sterile fields and assist in passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and other devices. Observe aseptic techniques by others and ensure corrections are made when necessary. Accurately interpret EKGs and alert physicians of any irregular activity.
