Surgical Scrub Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and perform unit support activities within the operating room suite
• Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs by picking cases according to physician preference cards and assisting with dressings and cast application at case conclusion
• Perform and document accurate surgical counts, including instruments, towel clips, and related items, ensuring all counts are signed off before the patient leaves the room
• Update surgeon preference cards per established processes and report any count exceptions or discrepancies
• Identify procedural issues and take independent corrective action to support department objectives and quality of care
• Participate in teaching activities and contribute to department improvement through written process or cost-containment recommendations

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience as a scrub person in a hospital setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required prior to start
• Strong GYN surgical skills required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Completion of an approved Operating Room Technician program or equivalent on-the-job training
• Scrub Technician (CST) certification preferred
• OB and Labor & Delivery experience preferred
