About the Position
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 6pm - 6:30am EST Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 1 year in hospital setting required License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Associate's degree in Applied Science in Radiology - Experience in peripheral IV insertion or willingness to obtain training - Strong people skills and effective communication Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure. Ensures that adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection, including shielding of patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the imaging system. Completes all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and completion of the study in the information system. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols before performing studies as necessary. Demonstrates excellence in teamwork, open communication, and a positive attitude. Performs all documentation in the medical record and within the information system to support all clinical and billing functions. Demonstrates customer service values and personal qualities such as self-direction, flexibility, and commitment to teamwork. Opens to new learning experiences and respects diversity without judgment. May work in fixed units or in an ambulatory mobile unit. May be potentially exposed to radiation and high-voltage equipment. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment or patients in excess of 10 lbs.
