About the Position

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 14 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: N/A Certifications: N/A Must-Have: STERILE PROCESSING INSTRUMENT STERILIZATION INVENTORY MANAGEMENT RECORD KEEPING Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to fill the needs of the Operating Room and Nursing Units. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes and disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, and maintains records for all instruments. Transports sterilized items to the appropriate areas. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and integrity. Properly checks power equipment and ensures all items are functioning correctly. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking, including following labeling processes and reporting and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status to staff, including order status and back orders. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments based on business needs. May be required to be placed on call during a regularly scheduled shift.
