About the Position
Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Must-Have: Experience in a large critical care facility Description: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles. There is a call-off policy which allows for the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift. Orientation consists of 12 non-billable hours. The department handles a high volume of treatments daily, assessed using the AARC point system, with an expectation of around 26-28 points per day. The patient population includes adults, pediatric, and neonate care. Experience in critical care is required, and candidates must not have worked in any related facility in the past year. Preferred candidates are RRTs rather than CRTs. Primary ventilators in use include Servo U, Servo i, LTV. For BiPAP and CPAP equipment, ResMed S9 is utilized. Heated high flow systems are provided by Fisher & Paykel. Each shift has a respiratory manager or team lead who does not take an assignment and serves as a resource. A hospitalist or intensivist is available 24/7. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, either 0630-1900 or 1830-0700. Weekend requirements consist of every other weekend, covering both days and nights. Holiday requirements are every other holiday. There is no call or standby call requirement. No floating requirements exist within the respiratory therapy department. Any color scrubs may be worn; scrubs are not provided. Department-specific orientation includes a review of equipment and technology used in practice.
