Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive evaluations of assigned patients and develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans in accordance with patient needs and physician direction.
- Utilize clinical reasoning to establish appropriate treatment goals focused on progressing patients toward discharge within an established length of stay.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address barriers to discharge, including equipment trialing and ordering, patient and family training, home exercise program issuance, and planning for continuing services.
- Manage individual, concurrent, and group treatment sessions; demonstrate flexibility in caseload management including coverage and continuity of care communication.
- Complete accurate and timely medical record documentation including daily notes, goal writing, functional quality indicator assessments, letters of medical necessity, discharge documentation, and charge entry in compliance with state, federal, and intermediary guidelines.
- Adhere to discipline-specific state practice acts and regulatory requirements; maintain professional licensure in good standing and fulfill all continuing education requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Speech Language Pathologist licensure in the state of Iowa.
- Demonstrated competency in performing comprehensive patient evaluations and developing evidence-based treatment plans.
- Knowledge of and adherence to discipline-specific professional codes of conduct and state practice acts.
- Ability to complete thorough and timely medical record documentation in compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in an outpatient neurological setting or completion of a clinical rotation in a neuro-focused environment.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary team collaboration in a rehabilitation or hospital-based setting.
- Experience supervising students and contributing to a positive clinical learning environment.
