About the Position

Job Title: Interventional Vascular Specialist II Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: 3-5 years preferred License: Registered as ARRT-R (with VI or CV credential) or RCIS Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting Travel experience preferred Minimum of 1 year experience as an Interventional Vascular Specialist, Interventional Radiology Technologist, or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist Description: The Interventional Vascular Specialist II precepts new staff and students. They assist in more advanced procedures such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, and FEVAR. They are able to assist with complex procedures, including multiple wire exchanges, and can use long wires and OTW balloons. Knowledge of specialty devices such as laser, penumbra, Inari, and shockwave is required. The specialist circulates, monitors, and scrubs all Interventional Vascular procedures. They troubleshoot imaging equipment in collaboration with biomedical engineers for service. Participation in procedural charging and supply management is necessary. They must act quickly under emergency situations. Communication with the physician regarding the plan of action and assistance with high-risk procedures is essential. Cross-training may be required to support departmental needs. The specialist must understand and work with the x-ray system, including panning tables and recognizing different angles. Management of access sites, including the proper removal of sheaths, assessment of hematomas, and knowledge of hematoma management, is expected. Understanding concepts of radiation safety is necessary. Knowledge of vascular anatomy and recognition of different types of lesions is important. Basic knowledge of supply features and their applications to procedures is required. Adherence to sterile technique is a must. Effective communication with team members, patients, families, and medical staff is crucial.
