About the Position
Job Title: Anesthesia Tech Profession: Allied Anesthesia Tech Specialty: Anesthesia Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech License: BLS Certifications: Preferred certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body Must-Have: Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech Description: Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia. Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival. Place anesthesia monitors and ensure the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment. Ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies. Set up medications and supplies where applicable. Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day. Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters. Operate the cell-saver machine and keep track of lab reports. Participate in cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical cases. Work directly with service-specific faculty Division Chief of designated specialty. Provide on-call coverage as needed. Support in ensuring that the anesthesia equipment is in good working order. Complete preventive maintenance on anesthesia equipment. Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting. Serve as the key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment. Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs. Help train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist. Perform anesthesia equipment set up and troubleshooting. Test infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors. Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to the video monitor. Set up rooms between cases and provide full service set up at the end of the day. Work with other units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Perform set-up and support of out-of-operating-room procedures for anesthesia care. Provide backup to shift supervisor during their absence. Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Chief Anesthesia Technologist.
