About the Position
Job Title: Physical Therapist Profession: PT Specialty: Therapy Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 08:00 - 16:30 Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice Certifications: Current CPR/BLS certification Must-Have Skills/Experience: Basic computer knowledge Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written) Description: Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients being treated by therapy assistants and support staff. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties of the supervisor as qualified. Assesses patient needs and initiates appropriate therapy interventions. Works cooperatively with other personnel to maintain professional practice standards. Observes and evaluates treatment effects and accomplishes short and long-term goals. Recommends changes to physicians as needed. Performs assessments and reassessments on each patient, ensuring adherence to policies. Documents quality improvement scoring accurately and in a timely manner. Works with an adult and geriatric population requiring medical rehabilitation services. Assesses patient pain and intervenes appropriately to reduce pain and improve function. Maintains patient safety and minimizes the likelihood of healthcare errors. Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge during team conferences. Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on learning needs, including family involvement. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency with therapy modalities. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs. Manages and operates equipment safely and maintains a clean and safe department. Interacts professionally with patients and families and involves them in care planning. Communicates clearly and appropriately with physicians and staff. Participates in patient and team conferences. Demonstrates flexibility and organization in stressful situations. Maintains good working relationships within and across departments. Consults other departments as needed for patient care and performance improvement. Follows current documentation standards and policies for patient care and updates care plans regularly. Participates in educational staff performance improvement in-services. Assists with orientation and training for department staff. Ensures timely and accurate patient charges. Engages in infection control and safety programs. Adheres to dress code and maintains a neat and clean appearance while on duty. Completes annual health and safety education requirements. Reports to work on time and adheres to absence notification policies. Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings. Acts in a positive and professional manner. Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical practices. Communicates the organization's mission and goals effectively. Maintains current licensure/certification as applicable. Demonstrates guest relations skills consistently. Follows health, safety, security, and hazardous materials policies. Participates in performance improvement initiatives as required. Conduct responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws and hospital policies. Conduct job responsibilities according to applicable federal and state laws. Takes accountability for duties and ensures tasks are completed as expected.
