About the Position

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our healthcare team in Washington. The MLT will perform laboratory testing in multiple disciplines, including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Specimen Collection, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic results that support high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience operating laboratory instrumentation, and a commitment to maintaining quality standards while working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Washington MA Phlebotomy License is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and other assigned laboratory sections.
  • Analyze patient specimens, quality control materials, and proficiency testing samples accurately and efficiently.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, capillary collections, and specimen collection for patients of all ages.
  • Prepare, process, label, and verify specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Analyze blood, urine, tissue, and other body fluids to identify normal and abnormal findings.
  • Perform blood typing, compatibility testing, and routine blood bank procedures.
  • Detect abnormalities such as bacteria, parasites, malignancies, and other pathological conditions.
  • Review and verify laboratory results before reporting to physicians and healthcare providers.
  • Enter laboratory data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Monitor and document quality control activities and participate in laboratory quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and monitor reagent and consumable levels.
  • Perform scheduled instrument maintenance and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Educate nursing staff on proper specimen collection and handling techniques.
  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related laboratory science.
  • Current Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent preferred).
  • Current Washington MA Phlebotomy License (Required).
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience performing venipuncture and specimen collection.
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality control and quality assurance practices.
  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
