About the Position

Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist Profession: SLP Specialty: Speech Pathology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8, 10H days (5-8s or 4-10s or a mixture of both) Hours per Shift: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Illinois license in Speech/Language Pathology or in the process of obtaining Certifications: Current CPR certification, BLS Certification Must-Have: - Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders - Excellent problem-solving skills and analytic ability - Reliable transportation Description: Diagnose disorders and provide therapy for clients who demonstrate disorders of communication and/or dysphagia. Assess speech, language, and swallowing skills related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Plan, direct, or conduct habilitative or rehabilitative treatment programs to restore or improve communicative efficiency. Provide consultation services to educational, medical, and other professional health-associated groups. Services are provided in inpatient and outpatient settings, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, home health care, and hospice. A preference for working with people when diagnosing and treating speech impairments is necessary. A preference for technical activities using testing and therapeutic equipment to determine the extent of impairment and make recommendations for therapy is needed. Ability to communicate effectively with patients to establish a favorable attitude and motivate them in their rehabilitative program. Must successfully complete departmental-specific orientation and participate in ongoing learning. Demonstrate competency through departmental-specific competency testing and evaluation. Ability to work with a diverse patient population, including those with varying diagnoses and needs.
