About the Position

Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Profession: Clinical Allied Specialty: N/A Duration: 13 weeks Shift: M-F Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum of two (2) years Physical Therapy Assistant experience in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population. License: Valid Physical Therapy Assistant License Certifications: N/A Must-Have: - Physical Therapy Assistant knowledge and skills necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs. - Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to execute tasks in a quickly changing environment. - Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills in settings with seniors, their families, and interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. - Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Description: The Physical Therapist Assistant, under the direction of a physical therapist, is responsible for assisting with performing tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative physical therapy services. These services aim to maximize participant independence and safety, and to develop or restore function. The Physical Therapist Assistant will work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement the plan of care established by the physical therapist. This role requires administering participant treatment programs as established by the physical therapist. Responsibilities include assisting the physical therapist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing. Coordinating with team members to implement activities and programs based on individual treatment plans is essential. Scheduling participant treatment, clinical visits, and handling documentation is part of the role. The Physical Therapist Assistant delivers interventions according to care plans, promoting muscle re-education and other factors affecting independence in performing daily living activities. Training staff, participants, and caregivers in the use of therapeutic equipment is required. The role involves tracking and managing maintenance for equipment. Staying alert to input from team members and updating the physical therapist promptly on any participant condition changes is essential. Participation in end-of-life care coordination and support under supervision is expected. The Physical Therapist Assistant must complete all required documentation timely and protect the privacy of all company procedures and participant information. Adherence to company policies, participation in quality improvement activities, and communication with the supervisor regarding workload and priorities are necessary. Flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve and other duties as assigned are also part of the responsibilities.
