About the Position
Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Healthcare Specialty: Rehabilitation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current license from the appropriate state board required Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire Must-Have: - Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy. - Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities. - Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed. - Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relationships with staff. - Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients. - Some computer skills. Description: Under general supervision, performs professional Occupational Therapy activities. Duties include planning, evaluating, establishing, and implementing individual and group treatment activities under the direction of a physician. Interprets a physician’s referral and selects an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure. Evaluates patients in areas such as independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills, and various psychosocial skills. Interprets the data and develops a treatment plan involving short and long-term goals, frequency, and duration of treatment. Assists patients in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, as well as joint protection and body mechanics. Informs patients and families of goals and progress. Assists with discharge planning by ordering equipment and instructing patients on home therapy plans. May supervise students. Performs other duties as assigned.
