About the Position

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician Profession: MLT Specialty: Lab - General Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Combination of evenings and overnights, including weekends Hours per Shift: 8 or 10 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Yes Certifications: - BLS Certification - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) via AMT Verification - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) via ASCP Verification Must-Have: - Phlebotomy experience - Arterial blood collection experience - EKG experience Description: All paperwork due 7 business days before start. Certification requirements include BLS and MLT or MLS certifications. Certification from ASCP or AMT is required. Position requires a generalist to work in all departments. Areas of focus include hematology, urinalysis, serology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology, blood gas, and blood bank. Daily phlebotomy is required as technicians perform most blood draws. Candidates must have arterial blood collection experience. Candidates will need to perform EKGs as part of their duties. Self-scheduling is not allowed, but coverage is needed for evenings and overnights. Weekend work is required every other weekend, with a potential for less frequent shifts when staffing increases. Holiday work is on a rotating basis with core staff. No call or standby requirements are expected. Black scrubs are required for this position. Department-specific orientation varies based on experience and comfort with instruments and duties. Experience with the LIS system Epic-Beaker is preferred. Experience with EMR equipment in use is Excellian, a version of Epic.
