About the Position
Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech Profession: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:30 - 17:00 Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, RCIS, RCES, or RT(R) Must-Have: Techs must be able to scrub and monitor cath lab and/or EP procedures. RNs must be capable of monitoring and circulating cath lab and/or EP procedures. Description: The Cath Lab consists of 11 procedure rooms, including 5 cath, 4 EP, and 2 hybrid ORs. The patient ratio is 1 patient to 3 staff members. The unit is staffed with Cath/EP Techs and Cath/EP RNs. The department utilizes GE and Philips x-ray systems, as well as Volcano IVUS/FFR and Merge Hemo technology. Documentation is managed through Merge Hemo and Meditech. Scheduling typically requires 4 x 10-hour shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Floating is limited to prep and recovery areas. Candidates are expected to have BLS and ACLS certifications along with Cath Lab and/or EP Lab experience. Procedures performed within the unit include diagnostic and interventional procedures such as PCI, Rotoblator, laser atherectomies, ECMO, TAVR, MitrClips, Watchman, IVUS, FFR, complex PCI, and CTO, as well as Shockwave and Pernumbra procedures. In the EP Lab, procedures include EP studies, pacemaker insertions, ICD placements, ablations (excluding cryo ablations), micra pacemakers, loop recorders, and lead extractions including laser lead extractions. The department is recognized as one of the top cardiac programs in the region. It offers a growing program that includes all cardiac modalities except transplant.
