Experience with telemetry is required. Telemetry monitors are available on the unit. A charge nurse is present on each shift and does not take a patient assignment unless necessary. There are 3-4 nurse aides on each shift without specific ratios. Job duties include patient care, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), blood sugar checks, and vital sign monitoring. PCT shifts include Days from 0700-1530, Evenings from 1500-2330, and Nights from 2300-0730. Schedules are typically made out for 4-6 weeks at a time. Management will accommodate travelers' availability but nothing is finalized until the schedule is balanced. Travelers are expected to remain flexible and assist in filling gaps for permanent staff. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. Weekend requirements include every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday. Holiday rotation may be required. There is no call or standby requirement. Travelers will be the first to float as needed. Scrub color is maroon red. Unit-specific orientation includes 2 days of classroom training and 1 day with a preceptor. The cancellation policy allows for one shift cancellation per 4-week assignment, two shifts per 8-week assignment, or three shifts per 13-week assignment without penalty. Charting system: Allscripts. Trauma level: 2. Care setting: Acute. Division: Allied.
