About the Position

Surgical Tech - Operating Room

Location: Northridge, CA

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Multiple 8-hour shifts available: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM, 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM, and 10:45 PM - 7:15 AM. Call required: weekday call 4-8 times per 4-week schedule, weekend call varies by shift. 30-minute response time.

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile operating room environment for surgical procedures
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgeries
• Perform sterile processing, including high-level disinfection and sterilization of instruments
• Monitor patient positioning, vitals, and safety throughout the perioperative process
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner Surginet and adhere to OR protocols

Qualifications

• BLS Certification required
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience
• Experience with trauma, ortho, and general surgery cases
• Travel experience preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile processing and operating room procedures
• Proficiency with Cerner Surginet EMR
• Experience in ortho, trauma, gyn, urology, ENT, and general surgery
• Familiarity with Da Vinci robotics and CVOR procedures (not required for travelers)
• Knowledge of sterilization equipment: Steris, Sterad, VP Plasma, steam sterilization
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment
