About the Position
Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: CT Technologist (Computed Tomography) Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Nights Hours per Shift: 37.5 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: NYS License Required Certifications: ARRT certification in CT and MRI, NYS DOH certification in Radiology Technologist, BLS certified, NYS DOH Injection Contrast certification Must-Have: - 2 years of experience - Multilingualism is nice to have Description: Performs sophisticated imaging studies at a technical level without constant supervision of technical details. Handles a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment. Applies prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as needed. Patient and Room Preparation: - Enters patient data into appropriate computer systems. - Places the patient on the procedure table in the correct position for the procedure. - Obtains an appropriate scout film for the procedure. - Positions monitors, foot switches, table controls, and lighting for the procedure. Direct involvement during the procedure: - Assists with handling sterile equipment as needed. - Maintains constant attention to the progression of the procedure while in the control room. - Monitors exposure factors and exposure time. - Operates the injector when necessary. - Maintains adherence to the imaging workflow. - Tracks exams throughout all steps in the process. - Verifies images to ensure patient, exam type, labeling, and orientation are correct. Observes all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff. Confirms vascular access and injects contrast according to protocol. Conducts appropriate history and pre-procedural screening to assess patient risk factors. Determines signs and symptoms of potential adverse events and monitors the patient closely. Notifies the supervising physician of any reactions or medical events immediately. Completes a formal radiologic technology training program, meeting certification requirements.
