Key Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist

• Examine and administer remedial treatments for speech and hearing disorders
• Evaluate and apply therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation
• Record speech samples and conduct phonetic analyses
• Document test results and recommend treatments
• Perform evaluations on language skills, speech fluency, and auditory skills
• Confer with associates to institute corrective exercises and special equipment
• Maintain communication regarding patient progress and therapeutic processes
• Assist with direction and evaluation of support staff, volunteers, and students
• Interpret physician prescriptions and write verbal orders
• Maintain public relations and protection of confidential data

Requirements of the Speech Language Pathologist

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Graduate of an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology
• Speech Therapy/Pathology license required
• Must have NM license and present it prior to employment
• CCC required (CFY supervision not available)
• BLS (AHA only) and ASHA card required
