About the Position

Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Medical Lab Scientist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months of experience required License: Must have an active license prior to the start date Certifications: ASCP-MLS or ASCP-BB required Must-Have: - Specimen processing - ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID - Antibody Typing: Tube Method - Crossmatch-Immediate Spin/IgG - Electronic Crossmatch - Indirect Coombs Test Description: Required to float between multiple facilities. Training and orientation will occur on day shift for the first two weeks before transitioning to the contracted night shift. Every other weekend is required along with one holiday if it falls within the contract period. Pediatric and adult patient care support is provided through specialized compatibility testing and preparation of blood components for transfusion. Experience with automated equipment and gel testing methods is preferred. Candidates must work two out of three major holidays. Candidates will float within the facility or to nearby affiliates. COVID-19 vaccination is not required, but the flu vaccination is mandatory with medical or religious exemptions accepted. Specific training will occur on the designated shift after the general orientation. Additional unit information includes support for a number of specialty services for diverse patient age groups. Blood bank experience is preferred, including skills in reporting test results and performing transfusion reaction workups. Flexibility in scheduling and shift start times is available. Effective transfusion needs management for pediatric and adult patients is a primary responsibility.
