Physical Therapist – Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform evaluations, reassessments, and develop individualized plans of care for acute care patients across units including Medical-Surgical, ICU, ER, and Orthopedics
• Implement therapeutic interventions including gait training, AROM/AAROM/PROM exercises, and post-surgical rehabilitation for conditions such as total hip and knee replacements, hip fractures, and post-stroke recovery
• Provide patient and family education including home exercise programs, body mechanics, and safe use of assistive devices such as walkers, gait belts, and crutches
• Assist with lifting, transfers, and mobility activities while monitoring vital signs, pain levels, and skin integrity
• Establish and document short-term goals, discharge plans, and progress notes using electronic health record systems
• Float between facility units as needed to support patient care demands

Required Qualifications

• Active California Physical Therapist license (must be in hand prior to start)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of physical therapy experience
• Proficiency with acute care patient populations including geriatrics, orthopedics, and cardiopulmonary conditions (COPD, CHF, CABG, MI)
• Experience with Epic electronic health records charting
• Must disclose any license or background hits at time of submission; no open license hits will be approved

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in an acute care hospital setting with high patient acuity
• Familiarity with ICU-level patients and post-stroke rehabilitation protocols
• Comfort working across multiple units and adapting to varied patient care environments
