About the Position
Job Title: Multicredentialed Sonographer Profession: Multicredentialed Sonographer Specialty: Multicredentialed Sonographer Duration: 13 weeks Shift: NOC Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: BLS (AHA only), RDMS, RVT Certifications: Required Description: The Multimodality Sonographer performs various ultrasound services and procedures for patients. These may include abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts examinations. This position analyzes the patient's clinical history to identify the purpose of the examination. It frames the clinical questions that the examination is intended to answer. The sonographer expands the examination as necessary to address clinical questions. Essential functions include: Performing multiple modality ultrasound procedures utilizing various equipment and techniques. Making the necessary measurements for accurate, high-quality results. Identifying and defining abnormalities specific to the procedure. Extending the scope of the examination appropriately and deviating from standard techniques when required. Correlating other diagnostic test results with anatomy and function. Utilizing appropriate protection measures during procedures. Assisting physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies. Preparing patients for procedures and obtaining clinical histories. Adapting imaging techniques to ensure comprehensive and diagnostic exams. Explaining the purpose of the ultrasound examination to the patient and answering questions. Recording statistics and performing daily maintenance of the ultrasound lab and equipment. Reporting all malfunctions as appropriate. Acting as a resource to other staff regarding equipment, techniques, and procedures. Working closely with the ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to protocols. Assisting with unit and organization accreditation activities as delegated. Implementing protocols as new technology evolves. Ensuring implementation and adherence to system standards. Assuring operation of equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer recommendations. Troubleshooting equipment as required. Key Success Factors: Familiarity with approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound examination. Meeting all qualifications and requirements for any two modalities: Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts. Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic principles, instrumentation, and techniques. Knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology for each specialty. Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures. Knowledge of relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with healthcare providers. Skilled in the utilization of computers and medical equipment.
