About the Position

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Profession: Pharmacy Tech Specialty: Pharmacy Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: 5 years of hospital experience License: State Pharmacy Technician license required in state of practice Certifications: Pharmaceutical Technician Board certification preferred Must-Have: Sterile compounding experience Description: Performs packaging, manipulative, repetitive, or other nondiscretionary tasks related to the furnishing of drugs. Assists and works under the direct supervision and control of a pharmacist. Fills and delivers the unit dose cassettes from the patient’s profile to nursing units. Pulls medications from stock and matches medications with the corresponding label generated by the pharmacist. Maintains floor stock by restocking, removing expired medications, and rotating stock in nursing areas and other medication areas. Prices and stocks incoming deliveries. Prepares IV medication products within the guidelines of applicable laws and regulations. Checks in orders from wholesalers and suppliers. Distributes stock appropriately and files paperwork. Processes returns and back orders in a timely manner. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational Requirements: Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients. Weekend coverage may be required up to every other weekend. Familiarity with EMR systems is necessary. Special procedures performed include IV Compounding. Specific attire, such as scrubs, is provided for technicians involved in IV preparation.
