Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: N/A Duration: 10 weeks Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required: N/A License: Current and valid respiratory care license Certifications: - BLS - AHA - ACLS - PALS - Current and valid NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification Must-Have: - The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs - A strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and caregivers - An exceptional focus on teamwork - A passion for delivering the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus Description: The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual. The role includes providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies. Intubation assistance as well as ventilator set-up and management are key responsibilities. Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate patient needs, including patient-specific disease education and consultations with other healthcare professionals as appropriate, is essential. Developing a rapport and mutual respect with patients, caregivers, and team members fosters an optimum environment to support goal achievement. The therapist provides and documents education to patients and caregivers based on identified needs in an understandable manner. Other duties and projects may be assigned as needed. Adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior is required. Lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 1 hour a day is expected. Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors is part of the role.
