About the Position

UCLA Health Santa Monica Medical Center is seeking an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join its Psychiatry Consult Liaison Service. This position supports psychiatric evaluations, care coordination, and discharge planning for adult and geriatric patients requiring behavioral health services in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and psychiatric evaluations.
• Provide crisis intervention, patient advocacy, and family education.
• Support the Psychiatry Consult Liaison team with collateral information gathering and care planning.
• Coordinate placement for patients requiring inpatient psychiatric treatment.
• Assist with discharge planning and connect patients with appropriate community resources.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Manage patients on involuntary psychiatric holds (5150) and those with complex psychosocial needs.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and care plans accurately using Epic EMR.

Requirements

Requirements

• Active California LCSW license.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Minimum 5 years of recent LCSW experience.
• Previous travel assignment experience required (first-time travelers will not be considered).
• Experience in psychiatric, emergency department, or acute care hospital settings.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records.
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention, community resources, Medicare/Medicaid, guardianship, and emergency detention processes.
