About the Position
Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant Profession: Rehabilitation Therapy Specialty: Physical Therapy Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift M-F Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum of 4 years License: Current credentialing by the State Physical Therapy Board Certifications: Verification card of current instruction in BLS Must-Have: Inpatient experience Description: The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will work as part of a team to provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist. The PTA will implement selected components of patient/client interventions (treatment). They will obtain data related to the interventions provided. Modifications in selected interventions may be made to progress the patient/client as directed by the physical therapist. Safety and comfort of the patient/client are also priorities. PTAs assist the physical therapist in the treatment of individuals of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. These individuals may have medical problems or health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in daily life. Patient care is provided in inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings. The Physical Therapist Assistant reports directly to the Rehabilitation Manager. Astute communication skills with employees, physicians, visitors, and administration are required. The ability to adjust to job situations involving many different people and projects is necessary, along with independent judgment. The PTA must have the ability and competency to operate the equipment of their position. They should be able to perform technical procedures, speak intelligently, and exercise supervision and management skills. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Two years of experience primarily in outpatient settings is preferred. Bi-lingual capabilities are helpful. Exposure to unpleasant sights, smells, and infectious diseases is possible.
