Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week (7.5-hour shifts)
Pay: $29.68–$47.37 per hour (based on experience)

Job Overview

We are seeking a Licensed Mental Health Clinician to provide high-quality behavioral health services within a correctional healthcare setting on Rikers Island. Working under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and Mental Health Unit Chief, you will deliver comprehensive mental health care to incarcerated adults through assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and patient assessments.
• Provide crisis intervention and follow-up mental health care.
• Coordinate patient disposition and referrals for appropriate levels of care.
• Collaborate with Reentry Social Workers on discharge planning.
• Develop and facilitate individual and group mental health treatment.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, case conferences, and clinical rounds.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
• Work collaboratively with correctional staff to ensure appropriate patient access, housing, and treatment.
• Participate in weekly clinical supervision.
• Perform psychological testing when assigned.
• Supervise social work interns or student volunteers as needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by clinical leadership.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
• One of the following active New York State licenses:
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
  • Licensed Psychologist
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Experience

• Mental health assessment and treatment of adults.
• Crisis intervention.
• Working with individuals experiencing severe mental illness.
• Substance use treatment.
• Inpatient psychiatric or correctional mental health experience.
• Behavioral health documentation and treatment planning.
