Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies prior to procedures
• Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical cases using proper aseptic techniques
• Assist surgeons by anticipating needs and passing instruments, sutures, and supplies during surgery
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after procedures
• Prepare, inspect, and organize surgical instruments and equipment
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and transfer before and after surgery
• Handle and label surgical specimens according to facility protocols
• Perform room turnover efficiently to prepare for subsequent procedures
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety standards
• Collaborate with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia providers, and the perioperative team to ensure efficient surgical care

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred or required per facility policy
• Minimum 2 years of recent Surgical Technologist experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• Experience in general surgery and multiple surgical specialties preferred
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist during lengthy surgical procedures
