They obtain data related to the treatments provided. PTAs collaborate with the PT to modify care as necessary. They assist the physical therapist in the treatment of individuals of all ages, from newborns to those at the end of life. PTAs help patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups. They read instructions from the Physical Therapist. PTAs work directly with the Physical Therapist to assist patients. They communicate with families to find the best at-home techniques. PTAs ensure that the physical therapy area is clean and organized. They move patients from wheelchairs or walkers to the physical therapy area. PTAs complete administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork. They teach patients techniques like balance training.
