Job Title: Pathology Assistant Profession: Pathology Assistant Specialty: Pathology Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 1 year of experience in specialty License: Not required Certifications: Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by ASCP required. Must-Have: Ability to gross simple and complex tissue specimens. Description: This position may work at one of three gross room locations. Start time may vary between 0730 to 0900. ASCP Certification as Pathologists' Assistant is required. Completion of a Pathologists' Assistant program is preferred. Experience in an academic medical center is preferred. Experience with Epic Beaker AP and voice recognition program is preferred. BLS certification is not required. The position covers Anatomic Pathology Gross Room. A generalist is not required. Phlebotomy is not required. The position involves an increase in complexity and volume with cases. The LIS system used is Epic Beaker AP. Specific equipment used includes Epic, Cryostat, bone saw, scalpels/knives. Weekend and holiday requirements do not apply. No call or standby call requirement. Hospital scrubs are provided. Training will be provided by current Pathologists' Assistants. This is a trauma level 1 care setting in an acute division.
