About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Assistant/First Assist Profession: Surgical Assistant Specialty: OR Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8.0 Experience: Minimum of three (3) years previous experience as a Surgical Assistant. License: Graduate of an accredited program in PA/SA or International Medical Graduate. Certifications: CPR certification required. Must-Have: - Knowledgeable in surgical anatomy and physiology. - Familiarity with operative techniques relative to surgical procedures and principles of asepsis and infection control. - Competence in pre-op assessment and intraoperative procedures as a First Assistant. - Experience in ortho, neuro/ortho spine, general/robotics, urology/gyn, and vascular. Description: The Surgical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the surgeon. This position is responsible for patient preparation and operation during surgical procedures. The Surgical Assistant appropriately and efficiently assists with all surgical specialties. They actively participate in room turnover. Demonstration of proper positioning, draping, and prep procedures is required. Contributions to reducing surgical supply expenses by minimizing waste are expected. Following established standards and best practices for infection prevention is mandatory. The Surgical Assistant is actively engaged in the "Time Out" process prior to incision on all surgical cases utilizing the Universal Protocol. The candidate must complete all required Net Learning modules within one week of acceptance.
